Yan Mowatt, Owner/Instructor

Yan Mowatt is the proud owner of Little Moe’s K9 Academy. With over 40 years in the industry, Yan got her start working along side her father “Big Moe” in the family boarding kennels where she developed a keen interest in animal behaviour and training which led her to seek out professional teaching to further expand her skills.

By combining years of real world experience with the latest in new research, methodologies, and techniques; Yan Mowatt ensures her clients at Little Moe’s K9 Academy are receiving the very best training available anywhere.

Gracie Wilson, Manager

From a very young age I was always surrounded with both horses and German shepherds, I spent most of my time helping my mother manage her breeding program, maintaining her boarding facility as well as travelling to cattle and equine facilities for work with my father. I entered my first Conformation show when I was 5 years old with a German Shepherd named “Mercedes” and my first Rally Obedience Trial when I was 9 with my Toy Manchester Terrier named “Blush”. This sparked an interest in me which led me to compete all over the Maritimes as well as other parts of Canada and the United States. My showing didn’t start and end with shepherds, i’ve handled many different breeds earning multiple group placements and titles. Managing the facility has motivated me even more to continue growing, and expanding my knowledge. I now have a German Shepherd of my own named Solo (ironic right?) and I plan to continue expanding my knowledge with her as the business continues to grow. My goal for the future is to help transform this business into a place that educates and helps owners teach their dogs to reach their full potential. Please reach out with any questions, I am happy to discuss how we can help you and your dog be successful.

Jocelyn Patriquin

Hi I’m Jocelyn👋 I am the admin here at Little Moe’s K9 academy. I’ve been working here for almost 4 months now and I love every minute of it!
I enjoy most outdoor activities, going for road trips, seeing friends and family and baking. Music is also another big interest of mine, I like to listen to pretty much every thing with a beat!🎶 I am thrilled to be a part of Little Moe’s team, to learn and grow with the business’ and to continue to meet some great people and their furry friends. 🙂🐾

Shelby Wambolt

Born and raised in Dartmouth, Shelby currently lives in Upper Kennetcook with her husband and dog Lilly. Dogs have always been a huge part of her life- she says she wouldn’t have it any other way and knew from a young age that she wanted to work with dogs. “It’s amazing to be able to make that a reality at Little Moe’s K9 Academy. Thank you for allowing me to love & take care of your pups. I am excited to continue to expand my knowledge of animal behavior & aspire to be a dog trainer in the near future!”

Taylor Cyr

I have a small farm in West Branch with horses, cows, pigs and chickens. Along with my four shepherds Nova, Delta, Mira, Kyia and my (human) son Fisher. My passion for dogs and GSD’s really sparked five years ago when I purchased Nova in Alberta. I have dabbled in grooming, agility and started showing in conformation the last couple years, with hopes to expand my knowledge and training abilities alongside Yan and Gracie. Little Moe’s allows me to have the career with dogs that I’ve always dreamed of.

Jalisa Brown

I’m a proud mom of two, a son and daughter and I was born and raised here in Nova Scotia. I have loved animals my whole life and have always had a house full of them! I love horseback riding and basically anything outdoors and with animals. I’ve always had dogs growing up, you just can’t beat the connection and friendship they provide. I can’t think of a better way to spend the days than to look after everyone’s loved ones! They are all so unique and fill the day with lots of love and laughter! ❤️

Angela McKay

I met Yan in 2020 and after taking her classes, where she explained and demonstrated operant conditioning training, I was immediately inspired to learn more about it. I have a Bachelor’s degree in sociology from Dalhousie University and have always been interested in human and animal behaviour. As a newly retired police officer of over 25 years, Yan recognized my interest, encouraging me to begin training with the dogs at her academy. I look forward to seeing my students at Little Moes once a week where we have fun learning and, by their wagging tails, I think they’re happy to see me too!

Brian Stevens – Conformation Instructor

Brian has raised collies under the Bannerstone prefix since 1974. Throughout Nova Scotia and New Brunswick Brian has been asked to judge countless all breed Sanction and Fun matches and Sweeps for Collies and Shepherds in Canada and the USA.
